The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Indonesia, organized an event on “Digital Creativity: Reimagining Culture for Sustainable Development” on 26 April 2016 at UN Headquarters in New York.

The event, held on World Intellectual Property Day 2016, highlighted the role of cultural and creative industries for sustainable development in the context of the 2030 Agenda, and explored how digital creativity can foster innovation, promote culture and build community resources. The session also discussed the issues surrounding the cultural future, including the challenge of developing a flexible, adaptive intellectual property system to ensure that the rights of artists and creative industries in the digital universe can be properly protected, so that creative workers can be paid to keep on creating.
